Pagar Garden (Chinese Restaurant),
Ormond Court SC
Clonmel
052-26301
We had dinner out in the Pagar Garden on St. Patrick's Day. Around 5.30 we arrived at the restaurant, without booking beforehand, and had no problem getting a table for the four of us. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
I had the spring rolls to start with and a spicy chicken that I can't remember the name of (oops) for the main course. Ally ordered a starter of prawn sesame toast followed by sweet and sour prawn Hong Kong style. Bee skipped the starter and had sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style with fried rice, chips and curry sauce. Jay had ribs and then the sweet and sour chicken cantonese style.
Everything was extremely tasty. We've had take aways from the Pagar Garden before and they've always been top notch. Their satay sauce is beautiful.
I had a half bottle of white Moreau while the girls and Jay had glasses of coke. We all had dessert - the usual pre-ordered Chinese restaurant frozen desserts, and I had a coffee.
We were pleasantly surprised by the bill which came to just over 90 euros. Considering that Jay and myself have often paid this for a meal out just for the two of us, we were very happy.
